The Australian Psychological Society surveyed stress and well-being in Australia in 2015. The half decade snapshot shows that Australians are faring worse than they were in 2011 when the survey began, reporting lower levels of well-being and workplace well-being and higher levels of stress, depression and anxiety symptoms.
Key findings in the report include:
• 35% of Australians report having a significant level of distress in their lives;
• 26% of Australians report above normal levels of anxiety symptoms;
• 26% of Australians report having moderate to extremely severe levels of depression symptoms; and
• In 2015, anxiety symptoms were the highest they have been in the five years of the survey.
Stress is a normal part of living, but when pressures of work become overwhelming it can cause a decrease in productivity and problem-solving abilities; and an increase in employee absenteeism and work-related illnesses. It is shown to manifest anxiety, depression and distress which can then lead to decreased cognitive ability and lack of sleep.
The Benefits of Reiki in Work Stress Reduction
Numerous studies have been conducted on Reiki and its role in reducing work-related stress levels in nurses and it showed that those nurses who received Reiki perceived themselves to have decreased stress levels.
Achieving a state of relaxation and calmness is integral to clarity of thought, to unblocking answers to perplexing questions of everyday life, and as self-protection from the negative effects of life stressors. The nurses reported feeling energized, less tired, with a sense of calmness when gaining a clearer perspective on an issue after self-Reiki use.
These studies can also be inferred into the general workforce. Reiki has been shown to decrease muscle tension and promote relaxation not only while a treatment is taking place but for several hours afterwards.
People receiving Reiki have reported feeling calmer, more relaxed and better able to tackle problems which they may face in their daily life.
Reiki can help employees develop skills to manage stress better, resulting in:
• Improved productivity
• Improved health
• Increased energy
• Improved concentration, focus, and self-confidence
• Better decision-making
• Improved relationships at work
Reiki is a safe, non-invasive method of reducing stress which has been proven in studies to assist with inducing calmness into people's lives.

I have had a number of Reiki sessions with Angela and each time I have been left feeling an inner peace as though I have been taken to another place. Angela was a great help to me when I was grieving the loss of my father. She is professional, compassionate and extremely intuitive. I would highly recommend a Reiki session with her!
